Hello, my name is Chantal, I was born and I’ve been raised in Italy, then moved to Michigan for love where I live with my wonderful husband and my two beautiful daughters.
Like every Italian woman, my grandma had a passion for cooking food, any kind of food, savory and sweet. At lunch and dinner time her house was smelling so good that your mouth was watering and you couldn’t wait to sit down at the table and start to eat!
Since I was a little girl I was impressed by my grandma’s cooking, especially when she was making desserts from scratch with flour, water, milk, eggs and sugar. I was absolutely fascinated watching her making delicious sweets starting with just flour.
I spent many hours watching her, and even if I was so young her words still echo in my mind when I make my self sweets just like she would be here by my side cooking with me. She was always recommended me that the measurements were precise, otherwise the recipe wouldn’t turn out right, this is the most important part! She also taught me that when you make desserts you need to be patience, ingredients take time to get together and if you try to rush it, you will end up ruining the recipe.
Now I bake my own sweets remembering all the tricks and secrets my grandma taught me, sometimes I challenge myself with some new recipes, making mistakes here and there and from them I learn new things! I also discovered that I have a passion for baked goods and grain, pane, focaccia, cornet and much more.
I’m here to share my knowledge and all those recipes, bringing to you some of the Italian food culture that me and my grandma love the most!
This blog is dedicated to my Nonna Diana, without her I wouldn’t be here writing about all this amazing food, thank you grandma for the patience you had with me and all you taught me, I will cherish this memories forever.
Chantal
